We have an area of our backyard that needs some topsoil and some reseeding. I did not feel like shoveling all of that into the trailer behind the garden tractor. The local (like 1 mile away) OPE dealer has just done a major upgrade to their rental fleet. They have this Scag Jackal for rent for $199 a day. Not bad! But….if you rent for a Saturday, they give it to you for the weekend. And as a bonus, they ended up dropping it off Friday morning. Since I’m so close by, they cut the delivery fee in half to $75. I couldn’t pass it up. Added bonus: Brand new rig; 1.5 hour on the meter.

It’s really coo machine! Good sized bucket and scoots along quickly at full tilt. It’s powered by a Yanmar turbo diesel.

After work, I moved some wood around:

This morning, I used it to move some brush and rotten rounds to the truck. It was way quicker than loading the tractor/trailer or wheel barrow.

Ended up getting it all in the Ridge after a few trips and we took a ride to the compost center to unload. No real scrounging opportunities there today. But the rain kept people away and it wasn’t too busy.

Tomorrow, when it’s hopefully a little dryer, we’ll tackle moving the 6 yards of top soil to the backyard. I’ll post more pics…even if you don’t ask for them. ; )

That looks like a lot of fun! As much fun as yard work can be anyway. Sure beats shoveling material into a small trailer and moving it a little at a time.

Fun weekend! It took me an hour and a half to move 6 yards of top soil. Way way way faster than shoveling and using the garden tractor. Plus, that stuff is HEAVY! You really appreciate the power of internal combustion and hydraulics after a job like that.

Gave it a quick wash after I finished up.

We call them all 'dingos'. Versatile little machines.

Sure was fun to have for the weekend! My wife and I have made multiple comments on how much time and effort it saved us.

Kinda like all pwc are jet skis, even though only Kawasaki are actually jet skis. Toro's are dingo's. But same thing as the jet ski terminology

Skier76 That is a nice tool to rent and you got your use out of it
