My day started giving the old girl one final bath. It goes to a new owner in the morning.

My wrists told me “you’re not splitting wood today”. I said OK, I will haul then. Got 3 loads hauled to my monster woods pile.

The forecasted snow showers never happened. My pile is starting to grow again.

    IMG_3605.jpeg

Didn’t get the last small load unloaded have to run errands up town while I still have a truck.

Back at it tomorrow after the truck deal goes down.

    single cab - my favorite
not that extended and extra cabs aren't very useful

My wife talked me into a 4 door Tacoma. But holy heck the back seating area is small. Small may not be the right word. Tight might be a better word. Glad I don’t have to sit there,,,

I have an F-150 Supercab. Nobody has ever ridden back there but I appreciate the cargo space that is out of the weather and can be secured.

I thought he was talking junk wood until I saw that toilet. Doh! He got nice rounds out of it.

It was an absolutely perfect April day to make firewood. Got a bunch hauled and split.

And scored four swedish torches made by mother nature.

    IMG_3610.jpeg

And sold my truck. I’ve known this kid since he was about 15. He was happy.

That would have made an excellent 2nd truck! Door jambs are spotless.

The monster woods pile is slowly growing. Had a good workout today. Did a whole bunch of splitting.

    IMG_3613.jpeg

I wish you guys and gals could smell this! What a delight. This was a very much alive black cherry and it split so fine. I never had to hit one round more than once. Very tight grain. I don’t sell cherry I keep it for myself.

    IMG_3614.jpeg

It started precipitating and I was getting tired anyway so I quit at 3 pm. Since there’s no Tacoma in the garage I parked 12 red oak rounds in the empty spot. There’s always tomorrow.

    IMG_3615.jpeg

Anyone want to do another “guess the weight contest”? There is a certified scale across from me I could weigh up those oak rounds in the morning?

After a foggy misty start the day turned out well. Got 3 loads hauled and split. Red oak can be somewhat enjoyable to split.

    IMG_3619.jpeg

The pile is getting there but has a long way to go.

    IMG_3620.jpeg

I ran outa gas again so load #4 is parked in the garage. It’s on my agenda in the morning.

    IMG_3621.jpeg

    The garage sure smells nice!

More progress today. These are perfect temps to hand spilt wood. I had 7 deer watching me for about a half hour. I think I am halfway to finishing my monster wood pile. I got all the wood picked up from the neighbors junk yard. Good riddance.

Going to start in my 40 Monday. I need to take two days off. Not getting any younger,,,

Been a pretty uneventful couple days. Since I don’t have a truck, all I do is haul splits to my monster woods pile. Then an event happened! Toyota salesman sent me a pic of my new truck pulling into the dealership! The PDI has been done and I can pick it up tonight.

So I didn’t unload my last load I just left it in da woods. New truck smell in a couple hours.

    IMG_3635.jpeg

pile is coming along slow but sure
