The Dump Hoarding Thread

Stopped at both local dumps to throw away some old pallets and a load of brush. Nothing for the taking. New company running the one where I dumped the brush and I was told no scrounging.

 

I wonder if returning mid week….with a coffee or two would change things.

 

Well they are back on there normal full time hours. If I had the time I would haunt there for wood as its not out of the way nor is the North Haven one. I bring recycling/trash and lumber/job scrap there.

 

maybe some donuts with the coffee would sweeten them up

I do but it was gnarly, random cut, and some had rot/ants IIRC.

 

Nothing great at the local one yesterday cept for some smaller EWP and some bigger shrub chunks.

 

Today at my transfer station the who’s was covered with slush, couldn’t tell what was there without getting soaked.

 

I was there Saturday. Nothing either except some branches.

 

My local is North Haven. Ill hit the Wallingford one if I have brush and its afternoon as the other closes at noon.

 

Took a drive into the town wood dump near me. They set the stuff out there for wood burners to scoff up which is very nice of them. All cleaned up, it was all junk anyway lately. Punky stuff and some cottonwood. They moved it all to the back wood dump. This could signal a wood tub chipper is coming soon. I’m hoping it doesn’t signal the end of free wood for the townies.

 

Timing is everything if you want the good stuff as I've learned. Probably some luck helps too.

Ive seen the tub grinder in action at the Wallingford location. Quite an impressive machine.
