But you can't stop a man from cutting it all down! So I'm at the farm I've been clearing pasture at, and various other wooding acivities. They have 4 dead/dying trees, near road and powerlines. Ive knocked a few down out back, but yesterday I took a few pics. This tree absolutely shattered on impact. I got my equipment ready for the takedown yesterday, thinking I'd do it today. But I had a young energetic man who wanted to help, and see it come down. So we did. As an aside ive been cutting a bit here and there since I left home in January, cutting with and for others. Ive watched too many cringe-worthy fellings with bucket loaders and more. Yesterday's work.... A maple, prolly 40' tall. Roped and felled. Bits and pieces everywhere!
Being that I will be cutting on site for a while, I fulfilled a longtime idea to build a stump bench. Its taller than my truck tailgate, so I can stand at it and play with saws..... Gave one saw bit of a spring run through....good working height. Ill add a wooden peg or two for my lid (on the trailer jack in the pic) another for gloves or whatnot.... I drilled drain holes through the side of the log, so the holes where the files are, will not fill with water....
What a day in paradise.... Pegs added Cut a bunch Pulled apart the 460 for a spring cleaning. Moist day but great for cutting and generally NOT being indoors.
