About time to fire one up here. 1/2 cord would be a good day for me.

Great! I'm done splitting and starting to stack. My least favorite part of it. In my earlier thread I started I may have grossly under estimated just how much I produced as the stacks are growing rapidly but that long pile doesn't seem to be getting all that smaller.

It's a first world problem to have I know.

Keep at it and you look like youre doing good.

Splitting and stacking is my least favorite part. I enjoy cutting and hauling it home and naturally burning it. I get it done though.

I used to hate stacking. Now I just place the splitter next to the stacking area and stack straight off the splitter. Pull rounds straight out of the dump trailer onto the splitter and then into the stack without touching the ground. Bending over to pick rounds or splits up off the ground does not work well for me since I broke my neck several years ago. I was going to build cages this year and quit stacking altogether, but didn’t burn enough wood this year to make room for that. I need to rethink my wood storage area…I have a lot of room, but no more places that miss July will approve for wood storage.

Splitting and stacking is just a couple more steps that must be taken. Learn how to enjoy it. I remember as a little boy the others did not like these chores. I decided to do it for them and made it to be fun. Of course the splitting part I needed help with for a few years but even at age 6 I could stack a lot of wood. We had an enclosed back porch and I always kept it filled with wood in winter so nobody had to go to the woodshed for wood to keep the stove going.

All part of the process. I usually split and stack as I acquire rounds so I don't feel overwhelmed when I get a lot. Plus it breaks up the monotony of doing a lot of one wood "chore".

Quite an impressive stack there. Im so jealous of the sweet drying area you have with full time sun and wind exposure.

I don't hate splitting and stacking, just that it is my least favorite. I do get enjoyment looking at the stacks replenished.

I started splitting/stacking back on 3/1 and have about 34 hours into it in total so far. I'm about 11.5 cords into my pile with quite a bit yet to go. I guesstimated my pile could be pushing 20 cords when I started. We'll see how close I was when I'm all done.

Same here. I don't mind splitting, it's the stacking I like the least. It's just so slow going for me with how I do things to make sure the stacks stay standing over the period of time I need them to.

    I like splitting.
Stacking, not so much. I like having stacks though and there are worse things.
