The wood pile doesn't refill itself.

Found this for free on FBM. There's 2 more trailers full worth. It's 9 only about 9 miles away from my house. All ash. A lot of it is cut to length but some needs shortening. Some is short, over 99% of it is solid and will be ready to burn next year after split and stacked.

I'll go over tomorrow morning for loads 2 and 3.

    Nice find Hork!

Random lengths are a pain but if it works for you all the power to ya. Dead/down ash that's not punky is getting to be scarce around here.

Ok, loads 2 and 3 today.

    Here's load 2 unloaded. PXL_20250316_165930822.MP~2.jpg

And load 3 in the trailer.
    PXL_20250316_182808856.jpg

There's 1 more load at the guy's house. Maybe not a full load left, but probably closer to another full load than not. My trailer holds 2/3 of a cord when filled like this. 3 loads already is 2 full cords. So there's somewhere between 2 -1/3 cord to 2 -2/3 of a cord I'll have collected when I'm done.

I'll wait until this crap snow melts to get the rest. I'll also start working on right sizing the rounds, then splitting them.

I'll go back for the last load this weekend. Probably tomorrow because Sunday it's supposed to rain. Then I'll need to resize and split this score up.

That is one heck of a nice score! Always a plus when you can even get someone on FBM to respond.

Good find that cut out a lot of steps to get it ready to finish processing. Gotta be happy with that.

why is it that when i finally have some free time to css this weekend, the weather goes against me. Oh well, splitter needs a new valve, which I have sitting there. Maybe string some wiring for 220v up to garage.

Nice. :dex: I've been watching fbmp but scores seem to be scarce right now, or they're asking for $$.
That'll definitely be ready this fall.

Ok I got the last load this am. It was a full load. So 2 and 2/3 cords was the total score.

    PXL_20250322_160332521.jpg
Now I have to resize and split it.

Those grey fiberglass tubs are my next project. I'll be making raised flower beds for the patio with them. I have a couple longer ones, and a couple of shorter ones. The long ones are about 4 ft and the shorter are probably 30-36". I'll use wood probably cedar unless it's stupid priced, and then make a frame with legs out of that wood. I might use treated wood and then stain it.

Yeah it'll definitely be ready this fall. If it was left where it was, it probably would have started to go south to where some of it, the bottom stuff on the ground, would be rotting. There will be some fire pit wood, but most was solid, just where the bark started peeling off.

Nice final load to a great score. Is there much living ash left in your area Horkn?

Yeah that's a good amount still holding on. There's also a bunch dying off, some might make it. There was some talk that the where had killed the EAB off, then we've had a couple of very mild winters.

It's in all stages here. There's groves that are all toppled and then there's living mature healthy ones around. It's patchy where the EAB hit.

I shortened a few of the rounds this afternoon. It looks like it's all solid based on the cookies I cut off of 20 or so rounds.

The splitter didn't want to start, so I wasn't able to split any this evening. It might need fresh gas. And maybe some starting fluid. Usually it's pretty good about starting.

Well I see FHC is back. I split about a trailer load, 2/3 of a cord or so yesterday after work. A little starting fluid and it was all good.

    Nicely done!

    Excellent reuse of the tubs!
