Built a barn a number of years ago next to a grove of walnut trees. Had a squirrel think that the soffit on my leaner was the perfect place to stash walnuts. Took care of that shortly after it was built. Went outside today and there was squirrel in the soffit in the barn. Figured out where they were coming from and foamed it shut. I just bought a really nice trailer that I have parked in the leaner and I'm concerned they are going to chew the wiring up on it. Anybody ever use one of these, and if so did it work ? And if it did work, what make and model ? https://www.amazon.com/Ultrasonic-Squirrel-Repeller/s?k=Ultrasonic+Squirrel+Repeller
Wonder if they make something like that for roosters. Darned neighbors (who don't live there) brought a couple closer to our house.
Have you been hanging out with my girlfriend ? She said the same thing. Years ago we had two outside cats that had access to another barn via cat door. Unfortunately the barn became home to racoons, and other cats. I know they have cat doors now that only the cat can activate via their collar. I'm not fully against the idea, but it's not high on my list either.
I did the same on Saturday. It's just a 5x8, but it's aluminum to replace the steel one I have that's showing its age being in the brine belt. I've been wanting to replace it with an aluminum one for awhile but was waiting for the cost to come down. Didn't foresee that happening anytime soon and thinking they were soon to go up again, so I decided to buy now. I park my Aluma 7x12 ATV trailer in the woods and the 5x8 under the lean-two. Mice got into the wiring at the back of my Aluma a couple years ago. It was easy enough to re-wire. Made it 9 years though before I had issues. I know were they were coming it, so now I stuff the two open ends with greasy rags before I put it in the woods for winter. We'll see if that helps, so far so good.
Not to railroad my own thread. I've been casually looking off and on over the past year or so. My friend and I borrow another friends 20' deck over when we would go to H&M to ride. With the KRX being a foot longer, that trailer isn't going to work. Plus, I get tired of borrowing stuff from people. It is a used trailer, but it's not even a year old, and has very low miles on it from what the previous owner told me. The lack of wear and tear on the trailer definitely seems to match what he told me. Aluminum is definitely the way to fly if you can afford it. Eby wants 15k for a 24' 14k deck over. That was way out of my budget, and good used ones seem hard to find. Going up north soon to get it sprayed with oil to hopefully keep it from rusting. It's a 24' Moritz 14k deck over. Moritz is a local builder of trailers. It does have torsion axles vs spring axles, and is painted vs powder coated. Torsion axles ride better from what I've read, but they are a lot more expensive to replace though. In the axle tubes ?
Yeah, that's a bit more of a trailer than the -ONE- I got!! I don't even have a vehicle that could tow that! I also don't have anything that heavy that would need to be towed. My Aluma has a torsion axle, which I what I also prefer. My new one is spring. I'm going to spray the axle tube, leaf springs and all the suspension with Krown as well. No, in the very back there were some small openings in the channel, probably for vents/drainage, that gave direct access to the wiring in the back.
I’ll definitely put some oily rags on mine, it can’t hurt. Once I get the trailer sprayed I’m sure that will help too.
It's no secret the the U.P. is noted for lots of mosquitos. I honestly think I have seen them active every month of the year! Anyway, a visiting relative, with his what can be best described as a prissy wife (speaking nicely now), brought along one of the plug in the outlet bug repelling device that supposedly emits some magic voodoo to make the bugs go away. Yeah, right.
