Winter has arrived for a short couple of weeks here in Paradise. We had to make a trip to the dentist which about 3 hours away. I thought you might enjoy some of the scenery. The first part of the trip is along a lake which between us and the hills. Everything has grown up so the lake isn't visible in too many places. This was the site of the largest non-nuclear explosion when they blew the top of two underwater peaks in the middle of the channel. We are crossing the bridge over the river that comes out across from her island. This was taken a day or so later. One of the many logging trucks hauling on the road we travel. I didn't get a pic of the empty one that passed us.
Beautiful drive and scenery. Thank you for sharing with us. I absolutely love the mountains and throw in a mountain lake, it’s just even more scenic.
Wow. 3 hours to the dentist.... How far do you have to go to get groceries/supplies? (I feel like you might have stated this somewhere before(?), but got me wondering now....)
For day to day groceries, drug store needs, hardware etc. we have stores in our community. We have a family doctor and hospital access here as well but optometrists, dentists, medical specialist are in the bigger center. To access bigger stores like our favourite Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Costco, Walmart and our favourite restaurants, it is a 3 hour drive. Generally the trip has good roads and not a lot of traffic outside of summer time. campinspecter usually is the driver so I knit socks. The scenery is quite beautiful but over the years, the trees have really grown up and blocked a lot of the once really spectacular views.
What an awesome piece of world you get to see. CT is boring and flat apparently,! In Charleston RI, West Beach area, there is a pile of rock fragments with drill holes in them. According to a native, the rock was blasted during WWII, to prevent it being a ladmark for submarine attacks. There was an Airbase a mile away behind Ninigret Pond, the rick may have marked. Neat video!

I think I may have posted something similar quite a while ago when one of the FHC members mentioned being on a cruise ship going through there on their way back from Alaska.
I took a bicycle trip on Vancouver island and island hopping thru the Gulf Islands on the ferry boats about 30 years ago. We only got up as far as Nanaimo which i think is still south of where you are. It’s all beautiful country.
Yes, Nanaimo is on the bottom 1/3 of the island. It is about 5 hours drive for us. Lots of people think they are in the north island when they get to Campbell River. They still have quite a ways to go to get to the top end of the island. Gulf Islands are neat places to visit especially by bicycle. that area is getting quite crowded now.
I used to work with a guy that lived in B C. Vancouver area IIRC. He was is a draft dodger. Moved back to the USA courtesy of Jimmy Carter back in 1977
