Update. Still carrying a SOG but a Flare now instead of the Flash II. The Flash was a Christmas present from a good friend and I carried it for 15 years nearly losing it half a dozen times. Feeling like I was pressing my luck I decided to de-commision it and picked up the Flare at Uncle Wally's for $30 I think. I miss the serations but am making due. Feels the same in hand. If this one comes up missing I won't be out anything besides a $30 knife I got at Walmart.

Snagged a Spyderco Street Beat LW today.
    IMG_1400.jpeg IMG_1401.jpeg

Stopped by an appliance shop for an igniter & saw the knife display.

I was surprised to see that some are Made in the USA, Taiwan, Japan & China.

I may go back & snag these 2 & maybe a smaller folding. He had about 15 of those.

The only Japan steel I really have experience with has made me a believer. (mower blades of all things) 2 seasons/110 hours of mowing without a sharpening. Need to do that this year.

My experience over the years with Japanese steel & knives has always been very good. Taiwanese steel has been good as well but steel from Japan seems to outshine it.

I guess I forgot about Tsumura and Sugi. I don't think there have been many complaints there.

Ozark Trail at Wal Mart $9.97. Thought I’d take a chance for that. Nice feel, smooth hinge and solid top lock. Looks very much like a copy of Benchmade Bugout. It’s blade is D2 tool steel so if the heat treat is good it ought to a pretty decent knife. IMG_1932.jpeg IMG_1933.jpeg IMG_1934.jpeg

The Ka-Bar Mark 1 has been my EDC for about 13 years, or so.

Just bought a Buck Vanguard to work into the rotation; the middle one. The other two will just go into the collection.

I have had a couple of 119's over 40 years! Probably one of my favorite knives.

I've wanted a 119 for many years, and just never got one bought, for whatever reason. When I think of iconic American knives, the 119, and the 120, are definitely towards the top of the list. Glad I finally picked one up. Now I want the one with a Cocobolo handle.

I have one of these BNIB. I had purchased one as a gift some years ago and it was BOGO during their holiday sale. Man I miss those days (pre-coovid).

Yours looks well used. Nice work.

Thanks. I'm on my 3rd sheath. I have a leather handle Mark 1 new in box, in my collection. I need to buy another one of these and put it back into the "new" part of my collection . This one just felt too good in my hand. So, it became my EDC. It's been a solid knife.

I wanted a small 3" fixed blade and saw this Screenshot_20251021-195612_Chrome.png
    Oddly named CCFFCC FF100
    IMG_20251016_120735821_HDR.jpg IMG_20251016_120804214.jpg IMG_20251016_120812954_HDR.jpg
I was so impressed I tried to order
6 more as Christmas gifts for the
    Women I work with
    but they were sold out
we exchange gifts and they always borrow my pocket knife to cut stuff
But don't like opening and closing them.
Really good metal in this knife and it was extremely sharp out of the box.
I was able to order a different knife from the same company but it hasn't arrived yet 81lLfkj-a4L._AC_SL1500_.jpg
The FF102 with a 30% off discount it's only 20.00 like the other one was.

There's a YouTube channel called 704 gear that's where I found some good deals
He has his own knife line
    I bought the 704 urban ranger IMG_20251016_120647408_HDR.jpg
It's a big but slender folder nearly a 4" blade 8.5 inches long
It was only 20.00 on sale it's 38.00 now
I'll gift it to one of my family this Christmas I already have plenty of large folders the price won me over.
