    What kind of car?

I just recently learned to drive a stick as well. Although a 25 year old 3/4 ton 4x4 doesn't ride that smooth to begin with so my passengers don't suffer much extra because of my inexperience with the stick

    I had 2 Beetles when I was younger....a '64, and a '74.
Reliable as heck, but back then you had to watch the #3 cylinder for overheating. The fan shroud wasn't designed well enough to get full air to that one and the exhaust valve would heat up.
Had to adjust that particular valve a bit loose because of it.
    Gooder times.

Hope she gets used to it before the roads get slippery.

Good luck! Hopefully it goes alright for her. I got the hang of it pretty quick once I understood what to do and where all the gears were

@papadave I had a tan '67. My first car and I loved it!!! I remember going to college and there was a gas war going on at one corner - three gas stations created some pricing competition. Times were tough as a student but remember giving the attendant a buck and would get 4 gallons. Darn near a half a tank. Good days!!!

Dad had a '69 when I was a kid, bright red. Loved that car.

That sure must've been nice! Filled my truck the other day. For the low low price of 75 bucks o_O

Although, the 22 gallon tank in my dodge is way easier on the wallet to fill than the 33 gallon tank in my old bronco. Thy thing may have been filled from empty maybe 3 time in the years I had it. Tough to drop $115+ in a single full up :hair:

I loved driving that car in the snow. Rear wheel drive, boy did it stick!

My 64 had bad brakes and no git 'em up, so I timed lights so I didn't need to hit the gas or brakes.
Pretty sure the tank was 10 gallons.
I remember getting gas at a nearby Texaco for 18 cents/gallon.
Sorry for the hi-jack Adam, but this brought back a whole bunch of memories. She'll get it sooner or later, so don't give up on her.
I haven't had a stick car for probably 20 years, but I could drive one in a heartbeat. Something you don't forget, once learned.

Yep-- it's like a bicycle. I don't drive one more than every couple years, but I always jump in and take off like I'm A.J. Foyt.

I remember the first time I drove a manual transmission car. I was 16 and working in a gas station/tire shop/auto repair place. I went with my boss to pick up a car from the alignment shop (didn't have an alignment rack where I worked). I got out of the truck, walked up to the car, told my boss I didn't know how to drive a stick. He yelled out the window 'you'll figure it out', then drove away. I made it back but I'm sure I wore 5000 miles off that clutch in a 5 mile trip.

My daily driver is a 6 speed. I went 12 years without driving a manual transmission and kinda missed it.
