    44 here, haven’t touched the fire since this morning. Feels like I should let it go out. Snow is melting quick.

    I was trying to poke the bear (aka the temperature gods)
    Looks like it worked
    But it's completely safe do it all the time, that top layer of block don't reach above 190f wood ain't gonna combust at that temp.
    I do it when I got a melt some snow from outdoor storage

    Id at least put a cover plate on that outlet since you have kids, and as we all know they will eventually do something dumb like stick their fingers into it.

    Haha yeah I messed that up when I tiled it.
    Forgot about it till now.
    I tape all my connections on outlets so still can't shock themselfs

    Snowing, wind just over 30mph, but at least mild temps of mid teens for a low tonight. Vapor fire just got loaded (about 1/2).

    19/67 winds dropped to 20 and are picking up again with the approach of daylight. No accumulation of snow. Yet!
