A blessed low twenties staying consistent through the night. I went on a daytime limb scrounging today went it got up to ten degrees. Came across a couple small piles of ash splits - enough to fill the bed of the Mule . Filled the boiler with that tonight.

Going to spend most of tomorrow setting up for some more log cutting. That means pulling treetops into clearings befoe the ground softens.

6/71. Really chomping through the chestnut oak. Almost time for the evenings last load of all black locust. More draft tonight, hoping to wake up warm.
Weather geek said we could wake up to zero again tomorrow. :shiver:

Grateful the gusts/wind died this morning. Yes it left blob snow drifts but it doesn't sound like living in a tornado today, and some sunshine this afternoon that unfroze our sliding glass door so I can open it

It was 19° on the way home this morning, 71° at reload. After burning down the coals, added 1 BL splitter and WO shorts on top 1000016348.jpg 1000016347.jpg

It's a balmy 22° out. Temps have been slowly getting warmer, even after dark.
73° inside, burning Norway maple, ash, and locust.

12/72 strong south wind. Furnace running third day in a row surprised me. Must be the wind? Elm on top of a pile of Shagbark coals.

Still snow and piles on N sides. I’ve lived in NC since 83 and don’t recall snow ever hanging around for 2 weeks outside of the mountains.

-3/68 just passed the 1.5 cord mark for the season. Have another 1.5 to go. Been burning through the Oak pretty good lately. Looking forward to a warm up this weekend.

Sorry but I have not been answering your posts. To be honest, what you keep posting is just too hard to believe. I am sure you are not just a troll doing this just to see what answers you will get. If not, it appears you should do something to become educated some.

It was too much for me when you started building a frame for your stove using blocks and heating those blocks thinking it might warm your house. Sorry fella but all you are doing is blocking the heat from getting to the rooms of your house. Those blocks soak up the little heat you give them and the rooms and the people suffer.

But now we read about 41 degrees or lower in the house!! What? We used to keep barns warmer than that so the animals would not suffer. And you wait until it is 50-55 to reload??!! Now you state you want to toughen up your wife and children. I think rather than toughen then you are alienating them. I think this is cruel to punish women and children this way.

I apologize to all if I sound too harsh but think it is high time something was said. I hope this turns out positive and I pray for that family. Wake up and realize it is your duty to make your family comfortable and happy!

Woke up at 5 AM to 1* and the wife saying there was no water. Huh? How did it not freeze before this? Thankfully it was the pressure switch sticking. We've had issues in the past of water line from well freezing. Long story.

Loaded up with BL. Will start to pull from the last row in wood shed this weekend. We went thtough the wood in January for sure. Usually Im in the 1 or 2 week of Feb when I hit the last row.

Have had that same issue with pressure switch and tank getting too cold. Tank/switch is in small walled off area in basement next to bilco door. When it gets this cold, I just hang a trouble light with 60w bulb by the switch, have not had problem since.
    Likewise going through the wood.
