Found an old pic of my rubber band ball. It's gone now...the bands eventually started to give out and break down. I could dribble it...sortof.
Got a little practice in the new truck Friday night. About 4" on the roads. For the snow covered stacks. Pretty in the woods on Saturday. I didn't do much besides ride around and beat in some tracks. River is trying to freeze over in spots. This used to be commonplace to the point of bridge piers needing dynamite to clear the ice a few years in the past. Feel like I'm crowding the Range Thread, so I'll put this stuff in here too. I did test this out Saturday breifly. No where near as quiet as 9mm or 22 but still down low enough not to need muffs. 5.7x28mm Ruger with SWR can. Had the barrel a little while just now getting thrown together. Fiocchi subsonics functioned fine. Got my Weigatinny mounted Saturday evening on the 77/357. Waiting on my fancy rings to show up to finish up. Another neglected critter from yesterday afternoon. Found the Fastfire sight that used to be on my Scorpion to mount on the still new TX22. Battery was dead which I didn't check before mounting. lol I'll test this out soon. Feels great in the hand which is the main reason I bought it.
Rings made it. I wish I'd never found these because I don't really want to use anything else. They don't help to make things easier per say, I just find them a great way of doing it. Rings are recessed to fit the inserts. These ones are '0' MOA, but the offer them in various sizes which allows moa adjustments without ever touching the dials. Slick idea and no mar mounting. Did a spring mod and polished a little. Can't feel the break at all and I'd guess somewhere around 3lbs. Needs a sling.
Skinning out of work a little early to go sell a load of wood to a grasshopper. He's lucky I know him. It's 18 and breezy here and the stacks are not easy to get to in the snow. Turned someone down two days ago.
Two year covered mixed oak, sugar maple, hickory, smidge of beech. Dunno who could be upset seeing this show up when they ask for some wood. Got that taken care of and made it back to the house just after dark to find a couple of packages waiting for me. Some 'ghetto' subsonics so I don't burn through the fancy Hornady's. Chose a paracord sling for this one. Actually a bit long, but ajusted to shortest length is sufficient and allows excellent left arm lockup (iykyk). Had them send me a soft case also. Next one already sitting on the vise. Another double duece.... a fancy one.
Well, if I'm gonna scope a fancy gun I may as well use a fancy gadget. Do admit this is much simpler than 18 rechecks with just a vial. Christensen Arms Ranger 22lr.
Got angry trying to navigate the various multi-caliber suppressors and the plethora of mounting systems and just said Bleh. Went back with my original instinct and found one of these as cheaply as I could and requested it's prescence at my local Cliii dealer. .30 cal. Direct thread on. Can be disassembled to clean if needed. Less than $650 with stamp included. I don't yet own any of the calibers listed below. It's going on the 7.62x39 which has been afectionately named as The Sneaky ****ing Russian.
Junk weather Saturday so I headed to the RV & Boat show up in the big city. Not many boats there and I'm not real interested in the campers. The bottom for them was around $16000. The most expensive I saw was a 120K RV. I went into an 80 thousand dollar pull unit and could feel the support beams through the floor with my feet. The only ones I saw that had excellent built quality was one Mercedes van based unit and a very nice truck bed insert. I now consider anyone I see with an Airstream trailer to have lots of money...even the tiny ones. Look them up sometime. I did buy some cheese off of a small independent vendor that is out of this world good. They had some other vehicles there and this one caught my eye. Only thing I took a picture of. Stopped by a larger Fun Store on the way home and browsed a bit. Bought a couple essentials and some ammo that was on sale. Got to drool over these wheelguns while picking up some corn yesterday at Tractor Walmart. Party time!
Moved a load to shore up supplies at the house. Balmy 37 degrees today. Got the little Winchester ready for sighting in. Infatuated with this stuff I found last week. (It's not hot lol)
Yep, party time. This is 4 hours after I filled it. The first yearling had been there about an hour after I left. Did a function test of this today. Not going to take a lot to get it zeroed. Already pretty good cold off the workbench. First money collected from the roadside firewood stand.
