I was so grateful to meet with so many FHC members at the GTG. That one will have to last me because I no longer get out but very locally. I try to keep in touch with members. Many times, it is the highlight of my days. Wonderful folks. Just be who you are and get along just fine.

I sure miss her. It nearly destroyed me when I had her put down due to the uncontrollable pain of cancer.

Some serious storm surge across much of the island today.

I haven't left my house, tempted as I may be to go storm chasing. These are pictures from various people and different regions of the island.

We had a couple storms simular to that one. The came in winter-early spring. Lots of washouts still be repaired. A few places 100 yrs old wash out into the ocean. No one can outwit the ocean.

Plowed and got a great clean up on Sat morning. It was one of those jobs that just looked crisp when done. Of course, the sun began to shine which helped out a lot.

But, it clouded up and by Sun afternoon, that clean job was nothing but a memory. We're scheduled to get some more beginning tomorrow through Wed so I think I'll wait until then to plow again.

We got the biggest snow in the past several years. Hard to say how much exactly because it is blowing around so much...some places are bare grass and others are close to a foot. Probably 6"-8".

Got some shoveling and plowing with the tractor done this morning. Just took the quad for a spin around the neighborhood and was thoroughly dissappointed in the new tires I have on there. They suuuuck in the snow. Oh well, they were factory take-offs from the Mule...glad they aren't on it because it would be helpless in these conditions.

Just put enough wood in the boiler to last until tomorrow. Going to hunker down for the rest of the night.

Between last night and this afternoon we are up to 8 to 10 inches of snow. Plowed earlier and I’ll plow again before the sun goes down. Road was plowed but not great.

Just fed the cattle, they met me at the gate. I roll out the hay....but yesterday's got rained on overnight....and they don't much like wet hay. 22° now and falling. This hay should stay dry.

those were seriously big waves coming in. I hope there wasn't too much damage. Sad about the building sliding into the sea.

After taking the dogs for their sunset walk around the property 99 looks at the garage roof and says

"Looks like maybe you won't have to shovel the rooves this winter once again!"

With all the settling, evaporating and melting of the snow we have gotten so far, she just may be right.

We walked on one of our trails without snowshoes. It may have been better to wear them as I did get some snow into my boots.

Couple days off. Cold here at about 6, with a slight breeze. Time to move some more firewood inside. I try to keep ahead of it so the wood can spend 2-3 days in the boiler room to dry a bit more. And go from freezing cold to about 85 before it goes in.

Well, there will be no bread or milk in the grocery stores in the next couple of days. Lows in the 20’s possibly upper teens with rain(ice) and snow possible 2-4” forecast. My bar and fridge are well stocked and firewood aplenty so not planning to have to go out and contend with the idiot drivers for a couple days:wacky:First snow in forecast for a couple years.

My stepson, his wife, and their two teenagers had to leave their home today in California. Fires getting too close. Hopefully they don’t lose their house. They have another place to go to.

The power is gone and apparently the towers that hold the power lines are toasted. High winds! Fire! Crazy stuff going on out there. :loco:
