Working on the 3 year plan and I wanted a way to ID the wood so I burn the wood in the correct year. I wanted to color code the tags but also wanted the date on them. But just in case the marker fades in the sun I still have the color as a back up. This is some of the rejects from the processor. Mostly crotches and uglies. Mostly I just need to cut them once or twice.
Great idea! Nice looking set up there. I usually write on a bigger splits end the month/year as its usually gone with 12-18 months unless a longer drying wood.
On milk jugs (HDPE) I always had the not-so-permanent markers fade in the sun in short order. A little better on the splits themselves and some wood garden tags.
Good idea! I have red equipment tags, they do fade in the sun but so far remain legible. The color coding is next level.
I weigh and date a few splits in every stack on the face of the split with a permanent marker, then put an x on both ends so I can tell which ones are marked. Near or top course of stack, so easy to pull and check weight.
