Been waiting for this guys schedule to clear so he could take this down for me. Had a pretty good lean toward the pole barn, so I wasn't going to attempt it myself. It was leaning toward that right front corner straight back from the stump. Fairly large Spruce. My wife plans to hang bird feeders around the perimeter of the stump, so that'll be pretty. Was trying to take a video of it on the way down, but the phone didn't cooperate and the tree let go sooner than expected, soooooo............ Now, to clean up aaaaaall those dang branches, get it bucked and split. The guy was nice enough to help limb most of it too. He should have been done an hour earlier, but he likes to talk......a lot. To prove it happened, here's a pic.
I was feeling great until I realized I had to clean all that up.I plan to load it all up in the trailer and dump out at the edge of the field in back. This got done VERY inexpensively, so I can't really complain. I'll have to stock up on Miracle Whip to clean up all the sap.
Nice Dave. Yes, the clean up is a bit testy but just keep at it slow and it will still get done. Yes, canola oil will work. Heck, even margarine will work. For the saw, even WD-40 will work. I still like Miracle Whip for the skin though.
I find that gojo pumice hand cleaner works well too. Plus you don't have to slather your hands up like a sandwich
I see a nice fire in the pit soon with all those branches. Good the guy got the tree down with no "expensive sounds" along the way...
Well, not quite enough tension on the rope, so the tree sat back on his bar. Once he cranked the come along a bit more, he finished the back cut and it went down real close to where he wanted.....and me too. Stinny, I still have a ton of branches on the side of the drive on the far left in the pic. They're waaaay dry, but I haven't been able to get all those burned up yet.
Done that too. The ones I use when dealing with White Pine or Spruce now stand up on their own. Maybe I should throw 'em in the washer.......with some Miracle Whip. Ok kids, don't try that at home.
I'd be throwing them in the fire pit for fuel..................Always keep a couple of pairs of the cheap canvas back leather face gloves in the tractor just for those occasions.
