Finding fresh shrimp in Savannah is about as difficult as stepping on a pine cone. It amazes me that folks around here still buy the frozen shrimp harvested in Asia from grocery stores. Picked up 16lbs of shrimp yesterday right off the shrimp boat for $3.00 lb. If you’re not up to heading the shrimp yourself, then it’s $4.00 lb. Georgia shrimp are simply fantastic and regarded as some of the best. Last night we made a spicy shrimp and Cajun sausage dish over linguine. Delicious!
Yum. We've been craving shrimp recently. I'd be all over $3 a lb for fresh shrimp. Some good peel and eat shrimp would be delicious. But I'm up for shrimp made about any way.
Looks fantastic. Shrimp are probably my favorite thing to have on New Year's. I should probably pick some up at the local seafood section before they're cleared out. I like to douse them with butter and grill them on tin foil with a little garlic, thyme, adobo, pepper and a few lemon slices. Of course you can't go wrong with boiling them and having them cold with cocktail sauce either. Aaaand now I'm too hungry to concentrate
Frozen shrimp is what we can get here. I bought a pound while on sale. Planning to have them cold with cocktail sauce, New Year's eve.
Take my money! I guess it's all about knowing where to go. When we've been to various beaches, the seafood at the local markets has always been more than I thought it would be. I guess going straight to the boat is the way to go if you can find that option.
We will be having oysters on the half shell harvested from our friends beds on the cape for Christmas. They give us a great deal, a buck a shuck. Wish we had a spot to get fresh off the boat shrimp!
That sounds delicious and I'm definitely a fan of buying locally whenever I can, especially when it comes to meats and produce! Wish we had fresh shrimp like that in my area, I'd eat them every week......
