That's what I used. My ratchet is swivel head but not offset, but I don't think that would help. Thanks for the info though.

Yesterday I was supposed to spend several hours going into the big city for shopping before my trip out to see family. Jumped in the Explorer about 10am, pushed the button, I heard click, click, click, and every single dash light started flashing. That went on for about a minute and once that died down, there was absolutely nothing.

Called a tow service for a jump - surprisingly it only needed a bump (last summer, when this happened, it took 20-30 minutes before we could get it going). While waiting for the service to show up, I called the local Ford dealer and arranged to take it in for a new battery. Once the truck was going, I drove it around for about 20 minutes, then went to the dealership. They offered me a ride home so at least I wouldn't be sitting there for hours (the appointment was for 2 pm), and I accepted.

They called me later and said that the battery had a 3 year warranty and when did I have it installed. Hmmm, I bought the vehicle August of 2021, and the dealer I bought it from had put the new battery in then, so yeah, I got the life out of it :). I should have stayed at the dealership with my Kindle as they couldn't get me a ride back until nearly 4:30 (their shuttle guy apparently doesn't stay the whole day - which I did not know at the time).

    Good news is twofold though:
    • It happened at home and not someplace 30 miles away where I would have limited information (local shops, who is honest, no personal history so no incentive to get to me right away etc).
    • The battery didn't wait to die until it was 0* on Monday morning when I would be trying to leave for the airport at 5am
So, it could have been much worse, it was just annoying and frustrating since today and tomorrow the wind chills are supposed to be in the single digits and even down to negative numbers and that is why I slated yesterday for my running around day.
