X27. I like it so far but kind of wish I went with the Isocore instead, especially when dealing with knotty rounds like these.
Not a heaping load but I got everything I wanted from here anyway. The rest of the trunk is getting to be too past its prime. The little 45 marked out all my cuts and the 61 did the bucking. Cut most of the way through, pounded some wedges in and finished the cut while still suspended. Almost like I know what I’m doing
This tree was in serious decline but still alive, and fell recently in a windstorm. I started on it this afternoon and there should be plenty of solid wood left in the trunk before hitting the root flair rot. The 61 Husky wearing the 24” Tsumura bar was the tool of choice today.
Back at the downed oak today. I extracted 3 rounds yesterday but didn’t bother to post such a pathetic amount This afternoon I was able to buck 6 rounds and noodle them in half before running out of time. This is some beautiful wood that will most likely get sold in a couple years. I’ll save all the dead-down for myself.
Yessir, another 2 loads should have that spot pretty much cleaned up All that's left are 2 more knot-free rounds from the lower trunk, and about 15 feet of knotty stuff which I don't mind dealing with seeing as it's solid oak.
