I graduated with a gunsmithing degree 5/12/24 from pine city tech in MN . While in school I became a member of the gopher rifle and revolver club in Harris MN. Ive got about 15 days to decide if im gonna renew , now that i live 200 miles away . Any other members on here?
I stopped by my local gun store to order a cz p10c optics ready But they just received some rxms And it was only 350.00 no tax here on gun's That made it 100.00 cheaper than the cz and i already have a bunch of mags and a match grade barrel for a Glock 19 I'm really liking it It has better trigger, sights and ergonomics than my glock 23 .40 and it's optics ready for multiple styles I also picked up this gforce exodus American made glock 26ish clone It has a modified frame to accept beretta mags holding more rounds and much more comfortable than a glock Feel great in hand a nice crisp trigger unlike my glocks.
A fella at the gun shop said the ruger rxm’s are basically a glock gen 3. I inquired if they had one that I could lay eyes on, they did not have one.
It's simply the pistol glock should've made decade's ago. that's what the big deal is i think because I've always liked and shot glocks. Not a big fan of the grip angle I've had gen2 gen3 and gen4 glocks Then i simply went to better platforms for me personally and never bought a gen5 there are many makers With better sights, optics ready, higher capacity, ergonomics and price For example I've bought smith m&ps For as little 350.00 like the shield plus or 2.0 compacts that simply out feature glocks 600.00 mos series With the stupid plate system. I have a glock fanatic friend he's collected them since the 90s he has over 20 different glock 19s alone. all different generations and a variety of other glocks over the year's. I've seen him spend well over a 1000.00 on Frame stippling, optics cuts, match barrels, custom triggers. To get what the ruger already is for around 350.00 After trying mine i bought a second one to put a optics on. I already have a variety of mags and holsters for them The rugers are hard to beat for the price There's comparable pistols out there but costs about twice as much or more. CZ,Walther, canik, beretta etc.
Any of you'ns got anything like this? Vortex has similar. I'm working up a couple builds. Neither needs high magnification. Interested in the prism because I have a slight astigmatism. Considering mounting to a bolt gun weird as that may sound. Just looking for experience/opinion with these low magnification prism jobbies. Already located a Bushnell Elite 1x6 for the other gun. Gonna put it up on see under rings so I can use the factory irons if I want or need.
Also open to likes and dislikes in regards to 7.62 suppressors. Ain't bought a can for a while...so many choices now.
Agreed, that’s a dizzying research job. Posted reviews, listed product features/attributes, etc. I spent about 6 months on/off looking things over, then about 2weeks of serious reading, determining what I really “needed”, pricing & such.
Back when I was buying them you had maybe 8 makers with half dozen products each. It has expanded dramatically. I'm likely overthinking/analyzing but that's kindof what I do especially since this is a fairly permanent purchase. Seems to have gotten pretty gimmicky. I mean afterall, they are all mostly the same. Mount systems seem to be where they are distinguishing themselves. Exotic material construction also. I remember when Inconel was the uber metal. Now they are using titanium.
I looked at all that stuff, I really wanted a muffler that I disassemble & clean. One person’s tolerable blow back is different than another’s. So without actually using said product it’s a crap shoot. A guy that owns a gun shop we went to said he had never taking his apart, just put it in his ultra sonic cleaner. He was running his on an ar platform.
The centerfire stuff can take a lot of shooting before crud becomes an issue, I believe. Rimfire is an entirely different animal. The last time I cleaned my 22 suppressors I heated them and then quenched in sythetic brake fluid which is supposed to mitigate adhesion. First I purchased legit dental picks trying to clean, then realized that a wet tumbler with stainless media and a bit of Sundrop detergent does very well. Only had to pick stuff out of the recesses not touched by the media much. It seems like the amount of blowback I get depends more on the host than the can. Example: Ruger PC carbine, 9mm, AAC TiRant very little blowback. Same can on CZ Evo and you get a facefull with each round. There is quite a bit of barrel length difference, which may be a factor. Of course breech design and operation pressure are playing a part as well. I suppose that certain guns like certain suppresors more than others, as with ammo. Currently shopping for a bolt, so blowback not much consideration with this one. I'm kinda stuck on direct thread or one of the fancy doodad setups that are modular. (some direct thread are modular also lol)
We got 2 cans in the fil's trust a couple years ago. I had never shot them. Finally put one on a 300 blk pistol the other day. Didn't have any plinking subs, so only shot some fmj supers. It was interesting and fun. Had always heard of blowback, but that was interesting as well. Definitely recommend glasses. I want to put it on the ruger bolt and see what it sounds like. And how it shoots.
You'll be hooked after sending some subs downrange. Much preferable to 'loud' shooting with muffs on. It's interesting to hear the bullet (breaking the sound barrier) instead of the report, no? Tossed idea of one of the electronic prism scopes. I got lost trying to research...they are advancing rapidly. I did find a digital night vision scope that's $600 seemingly on par with the high dollar units. Have settled for a 1.5-5 Sightron and a 1-4 Bushnell Elite for now. Got a pic rail coming for the 77/357 since it uses Ruger's proprietary attachment. Pretty slick. I did find that Warne offers some nice rings that fit the Ruger 77 slots, but I want to be able to mount more than a traditional scope if the fancy tickles me. Located a 2lb trigger reduction kit also which is inbound along with a couple of slings to try out. Got an extra magazine for it also (ouch$). Will try to mount see under rings initially and see how it works (has factory irons). May put scope line of sight too high. The American x39 needs a suppressor. Will try to make a decision this week there. Need range time with it to see if the factory stock will be ok for me. Some say the cheek weild is too low. My recent foray back into firearms has me digging out something I boought a couple years ago and never did bother taking out of the box really. lol I'll share later. Even have the optice already. Just need to put it together. Also...if anyone needs a good scope at a cheap price....Cameraland is offering huge discounts on some Sightrons (great glass for the money. *hecho in S Korea (a lot of Nikons came from here), the higher dollar units are Japan made). Sightron Store | Camera Land NY
First one has arrived. Fairly pleased. Does have a slight bit of tunnelling but crisp, clear and bright. For sure good enough for who it's for. I'm honestly a bit worn out from diving into all this deeply again. Lots of pieces and parts inbound. Kept coming across incredible deals on stuff I wasn't necessarily shopping for. These were basically 1/2 off. I ended up ordering more. I do have the items necessary to take advantage of them. I did end up buying a Hawke 3-9x40. The place I'm dealing with allows returns if not mounted. Was told to look it over good and if unhappy, send back for full refund. This sightron will also be travelling with it. I think it's for the inbound Winchester Wildcat. Now that the farkles have been found, I gotta buff up ammo for 357/38 & x39. Sigh.
