It's definitely more fun using the snowmobile. However the ATV with chains works well too, as long as you use the sled towed behind my with a small load in it to beat the path down and pack a trail. Otherwise it's very tough, even there's a good amount of snow at least.
Glad I was able to get the sled out when I did, it’s not looking good for Wednesday’s weather. I have to work on our other sled; I could not get it started. It has good spark and the plugs were wet. It would fire with a little premix down the plug holes. I’m thinking bad fuel. I’ve drained the tank and I’ll drain the carbs next. I’ll most likely top it off with some ethanol free fuel.
You are so lucky to have e-free fuel up there.. Don't forget to grab some for your saws. They will thank you.
My sons and I do that. We don't really go through town, but still ride all around. We also pull a sled behind it. Mom doesn't know about that part.
Yeah but if you stopped your sled and offered that officer; in crown Vic that stalls as soon as tail pipe covered, a ride back to a station he won’t give you a ticket for 20 years…
There quite a few places in the north country that sell no Ethanol high test. They all have large signs stating so. Folks run it in their toys and small engines, myself included. I find way less issues after off season storage.
We used to use an atv for firewood when I was a kid. It worked pretty well in the woods until the snow got deeper. NO ETHANOL! That stuff attracts water and clogs everything up. We got about an inch last night. Temps are dropping to sub zero by tonight, then a heat wave over the weekend near freezing.
Agreed! The station isn’t exactly down the road, but worth it. I may fill up some gas jugs and bring them back to CT for the power equipment.
Waiting to see what's left of the snow after all this rain, especially since the heaviest downpours haven't hit yet. We had a good base of about a foot of snow (obviously more at higher elevations) and the snowmobile club was planning to start grooming this weekend. Not sure what will happen now. Pretty sure that by tomorrow evening, whatever doesn't have snow on it will be a solid sheet of ice. Glad I dug out the chains for the ATV.
Nowhere near as gusty as closer to the coast(30miles east as a crow flies) where gusts of >60mph were reported. Maybe half that around here.
Yeah, I’m still holding her beer after she said “watch this!”……. Oh well. It’s -20 here and vewy vewy quiet.
EODMSgt What model Pooooolaaaaaris is under cover in your post? Post Edge/Pre Axis? Curious. Sure miss the 90's and early 00's. Real winters.
