Repeat smoking wood customer of mine orders some mulberry splits for his folks. I delivered them today not realizing the wood would be directly transferred to his fathers truck. I noticed the Florida plates. Turns out its heading there as they live right near Key West. He has never used mulberry (nor had his son who kept a few splits) and uses buttonwood most of the time. I've never heard of it. I could tell he was from down South. Dressed in a denim one piece with hood up and Winter gloves. Kinda like what I envision T.Jeff Veal would look like on a day like today! It was sunny and breezy with temps in the mid 40's here. I'm in a sweatshirt and baseball cap.
Hey now...it's a lot warmer down there than where we are... It was 29° this morning... Nice load of wood
Sweatshirt and cap in 40°? Not supposed to be standing idle that long Brad! Kidding! Its been some nice weather for wooding. Sca
I did get a tad chilled standing idle for a bit. Later in the day I had to put on the ski cap as the wind picked up and I was in an open area. Long underwear maybe in order today though.
I looked it up and yes it is, but there is a different species called buttonwood as well. Gonna ask the guy the next time he comes North to bring a few pieces with him.
I wear sweats once the daytime temps sit in the 50's. I work all over the clock....so always ready to go out. Hats and sweatshirts live with me, even in the summer (in my day pack). Sca
Funny as I'll wear the same pants year round whether its 95 or 20. If I worked in the cold and its too windy I'd wear another layer to keep the lower extremities warm. I had one piece coveralls for cold weather but too clumsy and restrictive for firewooding so I seldom wore them.
Hey I got snow on the ground… Currently 25* and spitting snow There is green grass in buZZsaw BRAD pic not a snow bank in sight!! my cousin calls me when he is colder than me in Cary county…
I got snow on the ground in shady spots and supposed to be in the teens tonight. Give me back the old south. I’ve been comparing my temps to what theburtman is posting and it ain’t jiving.
Wife sent me this tonight from the house. I guess I better pick up 17 gallons of milk and 43 loaves of bread
