70/35 Full reload. One huge Oak chunk surrounded by Ash. Low in the 20’s overnight. Stove is really rippin believe it or not. Zero flame. STT at 600 ish and the Cat at 1300 ish. So nice. Some single digit temps by the end of next week. Argh.
it is burning good, every bit as good as cherry I would say. I have quite a bit to go through this year. I cut this stuff in 2020 and it was a big tree so lots of splits.
The big rounds I had split just fine with my 22t splitter. I've heard it said on here more than once that it is a bear to split but that was not my experience. I also think the btu charts are a little low on the ratings.
43°F now Burning small loads in the daytime and little bit more at night in the Lopi Tuesday night is the start a much colder temperatures, I am ready for whatever
Are you a hand splitter or hydro? It is very stringy stuff based on the couple times I've had a few pieces. On my no take list.
Now that I've been a hydro splitter for 3.5 year I may buck a round or two the next time I have access to some. I said the same of elm and the last two scores of it weren't that bad to split, but if I still hand split io would chance it. Im no Spring chicken anymore.
Hi. I see you are Blaze king fan. You have one in waiting I see from your signature. Are you swapping one out for the other or adding a stove to the house? Im thinking of going the blaze king route. Will start a thread at some point.
39F with the wind blowing 13mph. Good night for the first burn of the season in the Kuuma VF 100. Just a few assorted pieces (ash, TOH, pine)to burn the dust off and test the system before loading it up for bed.
38/72 Just loaded up kentucky coffee tree with a couple oak splits for the night. Had a windy and mix of snow and rain day. Was quite raw out
