Hindsight is 20/20 as they say but I’m already thinking what I should have done differently. Most likely won’t find time this year but I’m already planning an addition for it. I should have made one more bay off to the right but I would leave it open and store my splitter and other wood processing equipment under it.
Had to finally buy some lumber. Visited one of the Amish mills near our hunting camp this weekend. Eight 2x6x12, twelve 2x4x14 and ten 1x6x10.
You aren't the first one to post about their woodshed build and comment about making it bigger before you even finished....been there, done that. Looks great anyhow.
I did this as a quick way to get a few more stacks under shelter and not have to mess with the original build.
Cheap. That load was purchased for 130 bucks. Most mills around me produce nice quality lumber, there’s some better than others but for the most part they’re all pretty good. Rough cut green hemlock and larch orders are usually able to be filled within a couple days to weeks depending on size. They will plane to actual size if needed. One of the larger mills near me does all that plus kiln dried, flooring, siding, hardwoods, molding, basically anything you could need. Pretty amazing to see actually. Huge diesel engines with pulleys and belts running through thousands of sqft of space.
