This stove came with a heat shield about an inch away from the sides. Those have been removed. When I burn tonight I'll try to take some side temps. The cinder blocks have never gotten much above 300f and usually they are in mid 200s
I'm not to concerned about overheating the sides.
But I will post what I find for temps tonight

47/34 Fairly dry with rain starting again tonight. Doug Fir splits as usual doing the heating work. Will start adding some of the thick bark I have accumulated to help.

Measured the side temps as best I could.
Below the tubes where the fire brick is it's from 400 on down to 200.
Above the tubes it's more around stove top temps 500 to 600

Currently 42°f @ 6:10p.m. Arizona time. Looking at low 20's for this evening. High around 40°f for tomorrow. Getting the stove hot with some ponderosa pine to get the oak burning through the night.

Well, I finally shut my windows and the house is maintaining 70 with daily temps in the upper 60's and night temps around 50. Next week it looks like we're dropping lower with a couple of days having highs in the 40s. Maybe I'll have a fire
Lopi is just waiting to perform

-6c/21f under clear skies and lots of frost. I got my timing off last night for my overnight burn so there isnt much for coals for my reload this morning. Ill rebuild in a bit while its still drafting nicely.

Haven’t started the Kuuma this season because we have been warm so far. Tonight we started a fire in the fireplace to going along with a family movie night. Burning ash, oak and sassafras. IMG_9112.jpeg

Sassafras in the fireplace; no issue with pops and sparks?

Got it replaced today, but flashing has more damage than expected so got a call in to roofer to have it replaced. Caulked it up and should be able to use it as for the season if they cannot get to it.
