Winter storm watch for tomorrow morning! Who knows how much snow, depends on which way the wind blows off the big lake. Looks like I’ll be be burning 24/7 for the next few days. I was really getting spoiled by the great weather lately!

OK, I think the thermometer was goofed up. In a 12 minute period, the temps dropped 20 degrees.

    It is now 47.

Low 70's this morning with a strong wind. Temps will start dropping early afternoon with rain moving in. We may see some strong storms, also. We need the rain.

-10c/14f here this frosty morning. Big swings for us in temps this time of year from morning to afternoon but the shade is lasting longer in the yard. Our ground is still soft but it wont be long now. I had a facebook memory pop up that showed we were -20c/-4f five years ago so Im glad its not that cold yet.

It’s not colder here 74 and I don’t see a reason to burn until at least the 8th. Looks like another short sleeve Thanksgiving is otw.

-5c/23f right now. We got up to around 4c/39f today in the sun but the grass was frosty all day in the back of my yard which stays shaded most of the day this time of year. The stove is finishing up a load of doug fir with a load of larch in waiting for an overnight burn. Im hoping I can get in the woods a few more times to get some more standing dead for next winter before the snow locks me out. The aspens are almost totally bare now but the larches are still a bright yellow.

Highs were low to mid 40’s today with a northerly wind, not terribly windy but plenty breezy and cool. Rain moved in mid afternoon and kept it up until about 10pm.
I was outside at work most of the day and the cooler weather and moisture got the better of me. I lit the stove this evening. Typically I try to hold off until Halloween at least. But I figured it was close enough. Plus I’m so grateful for some moisture so I could burn without worry.
Burning some standing dead elm and about 3 pieces of black locust that was left over and by the stove from last year.
Time to get some wood hauled in over the weekend.

Chilly morning. It’s currently 16 F degrees here. 72 degrees in the house. I’m currently burning some dry Lodgepole Pine.

Here is a pic of some splits that I made yesterday.

Nice, I used to do my regular splitting by hand but Ive had a 6.5 ton electric splitter that Ive used for about 14 years now. Its not as fast as gas but its steady and doesnt wear me out . I havent found anything in these parts that it wont split. The only thing I dont like about it is it weighs 175 lbs.

We got 1.62 inches of rain last night and into the morning. Temps are now in the low 40's but the house is still at 70. I may get a fire going before supper. Strong winds today, too.

Hit 81 today. I actually broke a sweat on the motorcycle ride home due to having a colder weather jacket for the AM ride.

    Currently 70 @ 11p! Really weird.
