    Who has this?

Can one replace both cell phone service and internet service with it?

(I think bushpilot has it, but has not been on in awhile).

A friend has Starlink for his business of working remotely and it is awesome fast. I don't know if you can replace cell service with it.

We have a couple of neighbors who have it and sing it's praises. Internet sucks around home, that's one of the most questioned/complained about things on our community chat. One neighbor works for a power contractor...he was in Ashville NC the other week, and mentioned on the chat that he was thinking about getting it after seeing it down there.

Thanks! Could I bother you to ask on chat if it runs cell phones? Here there is no cell service beyond one bar, a repeater on our chimney brings it to two bars. With our point of view direct internet radio, this router I use "wifi calling".

Yes, it will do cell phone coverage. Enacting Wi-Fi calling corrects a lot of signal issues at home.

    It's expensive though.

I believe one of the wife's cousins has it. I'll ask them and see if they know about the cell phone thing.

Still happy with mine, other than the cost. My phone goes to Wi-Fi calling when on the network, and it works well.

Tyvm! I did a quick look at the site and it said $350 install and $120/month. Is that the expense?

Have you seen Starlink pass overhead at night? Can’t miss it. I though5 it was a meteor or satellite breaking up.

If you are wanting reliable high speed interweb it probably isn’t bad. It may be less expensive in more populated areas because of other options.

Given who owns it I think I would wait a month or so to see if his businesses get nationalized though.

100% great. I've tried all of them and Starlink is the best. A short scheduled update every night, but it only lasts a couple minutes. $350.00 is a good deal. My initial invoice for equipment was $685.00 in 2022. $120.00 per month for service.

Cost depends on the demand where you live. For my location, I pay $120/month, and the equipment was around $500 (several years ago).

I originally had the round dish, but that failed well after the warranty was over. It took about a 15 minute chat with Starlink and a new generation dish was on the way, for free.

    I am more than satisfied.

It won't be nationalized in "a month or so," if you want it, just do it.

I think Starlink is working on the cell service (as long as Elon greases the appropriate palms) but no idea when the TPTB will allow it to go ahead (they are doing everything to shut Starlink down, they really hate Elon Musk). However, as far as the internet service is concerned, it is a true game changer, if you live in a truly high-speed lacking area. I live 25 miles south of Ottawa and we only have unreliable wireless internet that makes streaming video a crap-shoot. The communication incumbents will never bring true HS to the rural areas. With Starlink, no connection issues unless we get a heavy rain and only have rain-fade briefly. There is 4 adults living at home (me, my wife and 2 adult children, offspring, progeny?) and we have several devices connected at all times with no slowdowns or connection drops.

We also have VOIP telephone service and it also works reliably.

    added Sat Phone info:

100 a month is twice as expensive as what I pay a month now. That's for fast Internet.

Now if/ when we live on a boat, or RV , I'll get starlink. That's about the best option for those, although there's dish portable too
