Same here. Hickories, maples, poplars, and oaks are all more or less the same shade of yellow. I blame the drought.

With this warm spell this small rose bush is flowering for the 3rd? Time this year. I may save the rose hips and attempt propagating them next year. It’ll be interesting to see what color flowers the offspring plant produces.

This is a nice surprise. Last fall I collected a couple hundred dogwood “berries” from various wild trees and tossed them here. I kind of forgot about them until just now when I spotted this little seedling.

 

This same rhody has 4-5 blooms on it now!

 

Ring of Fire rose is still putting out buds and blooms. I've had 6-7 hard frosts, and this picture was taken this past Sunday afternoon after a morning temp of 22*. It is just in a pot and sitting out in the middle of the backyard, so no protection at all.

 

As much as I can, this will be cut back and roots pulled, as nice as the berries look.

 

Good idea Mike; each one of those berries is the start of a tree-choking monster.

 

What is that?

 

Oriental bittersweet vine. Nasty stuff.

 

The stuff will grow 20ft up into tree branches in a single season.

We have bamboo and wisteria on our place. Some areas still have kudzu, that is a fast grower that will cover ground houses, trees...

The birds are feasting. I can’t tell if it’s berries or poo falling through the trees.

 

I haven't noticed berries on my winterberry, but I haven't looked either. They might all be gone because it has been too dry, or because birds hit them hard. I did notice driving along a swamp yesterday that the winterberry out in the wild is very colorful right now.
