Had a free evening so I headed down to the Yough river about 20 minutes from me. Got on the water at 5:30 and pulled the yak out just after 7:30 when it was dark. Had a freaking blast and a great workout paddling 3/4 of a mile up river. The water level was up a few inches from the recent rains.
We're good in our little community, other towns in our county and surrounding counties are still messed up, still no power in those areas. But we're thankful we didn't get the flooding. Terrible in TN and NC
Just got back from a trip to Pymatuning state park. Got a few hours out on the water. Caught 3 bass and lost a couple. Friday evening I fished Shanago river where it flows out of the lake. Lost one there. Today it was so windy it was hard to fish in the kayak and I didn't catch anything.
Did a little bit of Bass fishing today on a couple acre pond. Caught about 8lb of bass a half pound at a time. Sarah and a friend from college paddled around with me. Trees are looking great!
Went back out Tuesday for a little trip on the river. It's the lowest I have ever seen it. Had some trouble navigating the shallows. Caught 3 nice smallies. First two were about 14" and the last was just shy of 18" and weighed 1.95 pounds.
Got out for a quick float yesterday. Only had an hour on the river. Wasn't getting any hits then I saw a fish rise and take something off the top of the water. Grabbed my rod with the Whopper Plopper on it and made a cast. Two pops and he smashed it. I set the hook too fast and missed him. Threw it right back and let it settle for a few seconds. Couple twitches and he smashed it again and I got him. Was getting damm cold on the water especially having to step into it getting in and out of the river. Worth the trip though!
