I delivered a load of wood to a guy the other day. His dog was outside running around with his chewy which I thought was rawhide. "It's a bully stick" he tells me. Not owning a dog and never having heard the term he then tells me its a pizzle. Never heard that term either. He proceeds to tell me what it really is and I must've like a tomato and immediately wished I had some hand sanitizer as I had picked it up and gave it back to the pooch. I wont repeat the word here so you'll have to Google it. It was chomping away and for some strange reason I felt somewhat relieved the dog was a female.
He tells me they are rather pricey and when I was in my local Walmart yesterday I looked at them in the pet aisle. He wasn't kidding. Honestly hate to be the butcher that has that "job".
I was going to message you the other day, to see if you'd take $$ to buy and ship me Polenta. The company went out of business
Lol. I've bought them before. Did live them, they are great chew toys/ treats for them. They last longer than pig ears. Pun intended.
Guys who worked the livestock auctions used to carry one around but theirs was quite large because of being made from a holstein bull.
There is a video of preparation (not harvesting) on YT by some women. "making bully sticks for the dogs" Some funny comments
