Since we’ve been without power for 10 days and virtually zero cell service I’m just getting caught up with any real news….but what I will say is FEMA “if the shoe fits wear it”!!
I don't think it's considered political bashing to say we need to vote in the upcoming election like ALL of our lives depend on it...literally. We saw their response in Hawaii, Ohio, and now NC and for that matter TN, GA, FL. American lives are not their priority, only our tax dollars are prioritized to provide "aid" for the rest of the world. Meanwhile, the lives of our families, friends, and neighbors are destroyed beyond what any of us not affected could ever imagine. What's even more disgusting is the response from "fans" of the current admin laughing and cheering the devastation because the areas affected are opposite of their political beliefs.
I think the retired military/civilian rescue organizations get things done while the government thinks and talks about it.
I’m on Mt Hood, east of the Cesspool known as Portland, OR. So I’m not affected by Helene, but my previous employer(Hickory Springs Mfg) is based out of Hickory, NC and I still have my credit union account through the company. I didn’t want to bother them with a phone call during the Chaos, but Friday I did email the office, and the Lady that I dealt with frequently, replied, she Thanked me for thinking of them, and though they had a couple of inches of water in their office, everyone there was OK. Hickory is about an hour east of Asheville, and didn’t get the devastation that Asheville saw. She said that it is so much worse in Asheville than the MSM is reporting, and that as of Friday morning, the Government Response was essentially ZERO. It is almost entirely the civilian population that has been carrying the Lion’s share of the load, in clearing and responding to those in need. The churches are the most common gathering sites for donations and volunteers. The Sunday School Teacher at their church, has a 35 year old daughter, that lives in Brevard, who has been traumatized by all the Dead bodies she has seen. We were relieved to hear that Hickory didn’t see the impact that Asheville and other places saw, though it was still Bad. We corresponded with several emails, and just as it has always been on the phone, it was like talking to a lifelong Friend, sharing news about the Grandkids( we have a Grandson due any Day ) it reminded me of the Wonderful People that I worked with, and made me Wish again that Hickory Springs hadn’t sold the plant that I worked out of. There’s a Lot of Great people back there, doing what needs to be done. I am not a very religious person, but I have said many prayers for those affected by Helene Doug
