I think it’s about a year but I may be full of beans. I am sure some of the more knowledgeable hunters will know.
My wife’s nieces son. He’s 7 years old and used a crossbow. Late yesterday. Good job young man! About 2 and half miles from my woods.
Some awesome buck on. Congrats to all. We don't have many like that around here. First day my son passed up a 7 point that is a shooter and is just a hog. He said nothing smaller than 8 pointer. He has more patience than I have! Only sat 2 times. Spike and 4 pt. standing 10 yards away both days. Story of my life...
$1000+ where I am for good acreage. I think it's crazy, but people have the means and are willing. That's just for hunting 'rights' only. I have not been serious about hunting deer in 15 years. I keep an eye on them and feed them for a few months during winter but only venture out with intent to kill during gun season. Truth be told I'm out there more to keep an eye on the property more than anything. Will only pull up on Slungers and those are rarely seen in my woods by eye or cameras. I got a few decent ones around this year, but yet to see anything that motivates me to action. I ended up giving the last two does I shot to this organization because I usually have to give some meat away or it gets burned before I get to it (don't eat a lot of red meat these days, no I ain't no vegan lol...just don't eat a lot of meat). Also..... cows taste much better! https://ohiodnr.gov/buy-and-apply/hunting-fishing-boating/hunting-resources/donate-venison Guys down in the shop have killed a couple nice ones this year. One got a 150+ last night. He has a room in his house with about 20 other mounts about the same size. He does the work every year, so he usually does good for himself. I did receive a crossbow for my birthday recently. Might have to get me a kill with it (never owned one before, compound shooter since 13).
Well I guess the boy passing on the 7 pointer paid off. Haven't seen this guy on camera for a month and half . Big bodied deer too.
The gentleman is correct, 60 days for both Pope & Young, Boone and Crockett. That buck will make both books.
First time in the stand night for this season. First deer that comes by is this 8pt and gives me a 25 yard quartering shot with the bow. Pass through shot and it only went 60 yards making for an easy recovery. I typically see does first so this was a welcome surprise.
Congrats to everyone on the kills! I've had a great fall bow season so far. I've killed two does and was able to kill a nice 8 that showed up after last seeing him back in 2022. Permit bow started this weekend so I finally have another buck tag just in time for the rut.
