Opening archery starts on Saturday in the Buckeye state and goes through February. I’m still finishing off the deer meat from last year.

I changed out the string on my crossbow and took some practice shots in the yard. I’m trying out some different broad heads this year. I also picked up some illumenocks that are easier to turn off.

The big buck I have been seeing all summer disappeared as of 10 days ago. Not seen him on camera or in person.

Best of luck to everyone this year. Stay safe and post those harvest pics.

IMG_2028.jpeg Youth season here in Iowa started last Saturday. Good friend brought his daughter out and they made short work of it. Sat for about half hour and this guy walked up 75 yds away. Winchester XPR in 350 Legend.

I'm dialed in and ready to go. Been practicing my "cold bore" shots this week. 1 arrow at 40 yards with at least 30 minutes in between.

Our archery starts next week. Don't currently have my bow, I had to get it restrung. I was hoping to go one more season in. When I was practicing the other week, it started to fray and it started to get rough, real fast. Dont know if I'll have it for opening day, but rather be safe.

Ohio, all of our buck have gone disappeared too. Even the young buck. I did finally have one camera today. Nice 8 point, but not one of the big boys.
It's frustrating how they change up their patterns right before season starts.

That's a nice buck Ronaldo. Is that her first?

I don't bow hunt any more, but maybe I'll pick up crossbow hunting.

I pulled all of my cards from the trail cams and there's 4 his shooter bucks that have been making rounds. 2 of them would be the biggest buck of ever have gotten of it works out this year. I'm almost out of venison, I do get a few doe tags down here by my home, and I have friends with acreage.

Youth season this weekend. My 14 YO son got some groceries with his bow this evening. 10 yard shot ran 60. Crime scene the whole way.

I was running for a buck this year and I got excited when I saw him on camera again.
    IMG_2812.jpeg

An hour later I see people and flashlights coming through the woods.
    CAN I HELP YOU?

Yes we just shot a monster buck. Can we look for him?

    sure

There was a ton of blood the whole way. We tracked him all the way across my property and to the neighbors. They found him on my neighbors property.

Glad he was found, but I was really hoping you would get him. So that sucks.
Im surprised he was killed so soon in the season. Thought he may go nocturnal.

Well, I just got permission to doe hunt over at my friend's house, the one with the bobcat toolcat, that has 50+ acres less than 10 minutes away from my house for the antlerless only holiday hunt between Christmas and New Year's. So if I don't get a Buck at my 80 acres up north, I can get venison close to home. I get free doe tags down here by home, but not up north where my land is.

I just heard that people are paying around $700 each to hunt around here. That’s just for the ability to hunt & have a room to stay in for a few days. Travel expenses & hunting license are extra, that’s crazy.

I havent seen the buck or gotten any measurements other than the taxidermist told him it scored 179.5. I think there is a required drying time when some shrinkage occurs??
