    Hi All;
    Haven't been around for quite a while.
    Last night and this morning we had our first hard frost of the season . It got down around +23 or -7 C .
    This year I have a good bit of birch in the shed so the house was nice and comfortable. With all the home improvements I've done this year . Insulation and vb, sheetrock. It really is transforming the house.
    How's everyone been doing ?

    Good to see you back. :cheers:
    It’s been mid 70’s and rain here for the entire week. No where near frost or first fire time.

    I was hoping you would come back but figured you were busy with your house. Winter is not far away up there so hopefully you have a nice wood pile.

    What a treat, nice extended summer, like July temps here. And nice crips cool nights and mornings. 70'-80's day, 40's night.

    Another rainy, dreary day. The sun may show up Thursday. I won't complain about the weather compared to the horrible mess others have gotten from Helene.

    The house was 6c/42f last night so I lit a fire to chase away the chill and then watched a movie in front of the wood stove with my wife. It was oc/32f this morning and the stove was still warm so I built another half load fire. Burning doug fir. Its a beautiful fall day in the mountains! Weve had a number of frosty mornings which has really brought out the fall colours. The larch trees are turning a bright yellow.

    Getting about that time up here in Sask. Amazingly, we haven't yet had a fire, being lazy and running the furnace or elec heaters before bed (we're part polar bear here, but also, a super warm fall really helps!). No doubt fall and winter are rolling in soon. A balmy 9C/47F here, with winds between 30-40 mph.

    Though it was overcast and wet, the temperature remained reasonably nice. Tomorrow is sunny, so I am planning to place the woodstack on the front porch tomorrow. It is for the fireplace on cold weekends.

    pretty soon the woodshed at the boiler will be partially stacked. I have a downed tree in the calf pasture that is dedicated to being burned first, from the tippy top to the stump. Will give me time to CSS some other treetops.

    usually Halloween time is when we fire up the OWB on our road

    Broke into the 40's last night and night before for the first time. Days in the mid 60's to lower 70's. Going to load up the last of that big Doug Fir tree and bring it home this Thursday!

    50/69 Just started a small fire with lumber cutoffs and Elm uglies. It looks like a fire in the morning will be the norm for a few days.
