My local Lowes offers a variety of pellets. I am looking for opinions on which one's folks prefer although I would imagine quality can change from lot to lot, year to year. I need to pick up 5 tons so I would like to make an informed choice. Thanks!
    Greene Team
    Clean Energy
    Nature's Own
    Cheat River
    Presto Log

The Greene Team are a good pellet, although a few people claimed they were a little too ashy for them in past years. PrestoLog's are also a good choice.
I think I remember someone saying that the Clean Energy is actually Hamer's pellets. If that's true, and they're all the same price, my 5 tons would be the Clean Energy. After that, I'd get the Presto log's, and then the GT's.

BTW, welcome to the forum!! We love pics of stoves (hint, hint). :D

All I can offer comment on is Presto Logs. I ran across a few bags of those a couple years ago. Good pellets.

And the real reason for my post - welcome!

I've burned three of those brands. I'd avoid the Natures Own. Didn't burn well for me. The Cheat Rivers were fine in my stove, but others didn't seem to like them. I'm a fan of the Presto logs, and many others are too. I can't comment on the Clean energy or the Greene team, never burned either of those.

PTL's and Clean Energy were awesome last season. Green Teams were good and hot but a tad ashy for my liking. Nature Own were very close to the Stove Chow. No experience with Chit River, But haven't heard many good things.

    1.) CE
    2.) PTL
    3.) GT's
    4.) Natures Own

A note on the PTL's some batches were much darker in color. Didn't seem to effect heat, But were ever so slightly higher in ash content.

I heard that Clean Energy was Hamers as well. If they are all the same price? I'd hog out on the Clean Energys! :)

Presto-Logs are also a decent pellet. I just purchased 6 ton myself. But given a choice? I'd have went CE all the way!! :dex:

    BTW- Welcome to FHC!
