    The only puffballs I have found out in our area aren't more than 4" across. I think it is too wet and they go to slime quickly.

    I've got three on the property (that I know about) right now. One of those three will get to the size of the one you're holding. Every year, it'll re-appear in the exact same spot as the previous year.

    The other two are within 20' or so and they aren't going to get any larger than a softball..........someone nudged them off the lawn with the riding mower deck. :whistle:

    I guess I know they are edible but there is no interest in consuming them.
