Gonna have a hard time fitting those in the pellet stove! Well unless you buck and split them really small!
Oh yeah! Time for Hope to see lots of threads from you. I forget what town you're in? Find a good score and we'll go cutting. Been there done that with a few CT members and wouldn't mind doing the same with another.
Out of town again and grabbed this about a mile from the job. Originally just some elm and dead ash. BUT more wood had been cut down since I was there last week. SHOCKED to see apple. Made this hoarders ride home more pleasant. Probably a face cord for the cut.
Yes it is! I wasn't planning on bucking big logs and once again the wrong sized saw, 241 with a 14" bar got it done. Hard time bucking in the major tangles there. Couldn't roll or move big log much. I halved them with the Isocore and several good whacks on a few of them to do so. One was a bit gnarly and I noodled it. Again not the ideal saw, but it zipped through it. Ill split it right off the truck this morning.
That apple log should have gone through buzzsaws sawmill. A trailer with a winch would have made that possible. 10 demerit points taken. All good on the rest of the score tho
I agree but it was late and was pressed for time. Plus this was in Windham and if I snoozed I'd lose. Hard enough getting the rounds out of there. There still maybe an apple log from March at a score I cut. Never did go back.
Split most of the apple off the truck this morning. Pretty firewood Tried one elm round and it split kinda like "normal" elm, unlike the the other day. Ill take smaller diameter elm from now on given the chance. Last trip out of town. Had a couple different places for dead ash and again with limited time I chose the Goldilocks stuff. Right where I cut yesterday. Solid with just loose bark.
Stacked the apple. Mixed stack with other smoker wood. Kinda temporary, but at least its under cover. Processed the elm from this and from the other score and stacked. Processed some of the dead ash too.
Nice looking scrounge. Do you have an offset smoker? What little apple I get I process into chunks and use it to mix in with charcoal for the Kamado Joe. I keep a few splits for the wood stove though.
