We’ve been using our trust ol’ Smokey Joe for grilling duties this summer and it’s worked well enough.

A few weeks back, we visited the Sierra in Keene, NH and stumbled on this deal:

Basically, a 1/4 of what they went for new.

This unit works great for us. We do a lot of sous vide cooking, so we need something that gives a good quick sear. This grill works somewhat like their firepits. However, it does not have the top inside holes for the reburn you get with the firepits. It just has the holes in the bottom and one air adjust on the lid. Many reviews list that as a negative since you can’t really control the heat and dial it down. But given the type of cooking we do, doesn’t matter to us at all. They’ve discontinued this model, but I reached out to Solo and it still carries their lifetime warranty which is another bonus given the price we got this for.

So far, we’ve cooked some shrimp for shrimp tacos, chicken, portobellos, veggies and everything came out excellent. Has a nice char to it and a good hint of smoke from the charcoal. Looking forward to many years of service from this one.

Sounds like solo would want it that way too, for most people at least.

Now for Skier76 , it looks like a perfect grill. Lifetime warranty, great discounted price, and excellent results!

Thanks guys! I heard about this briefly as a product, but I think it was short lived. Have to imagine we snagged this one as leftover inventory. The box had a decent biff in it and may be why someone didn’t grab it before us. Luckily, it was packed well and the only damage was to the box corner and styrofoam packing behind it.
