Pretty gross outside now. Feels like walking into a sauna. Not as humid as a few days earlier this year, so we got that going for us.

    What the….

Right now, current conditions. 58 inside, 58 outside. A belly full of fir. Need to have some chimney work done tomorrow and they want a warm chimney. All windows open with the breeze running through. In two months 58 will be cold, right now it’s pretty comfortable.

Here is the current web cam shot of Logan Pass in Glacier National Park. Parts of Montana above 7000 feet will get ten inches.

It struggled to get past 7c/44f here today and spent most of the day at 5c/41f or lower with lots of cold rain. The freezing level here this morning was under 5000 ft and Ive glimpsed snow on the trees up the mountain when the clouds allowed. We just had our camp fire ban lifted yesterday at noon and Im not interested in lighting the wood stove yet so the furnace it is! It looks like we have lots of sun and warmth coming up so it will be nice to put this brief cool weather behind us for a bit.

I burned a mixed load of hemlock, cedar, and alder last night. Temps were in the 40s. First time I've ever had a fire in August. The smell of a woodstove heating up when it hasn't been used in a while is one of my favorite smells in life.

Sweet Moses make it stop. Major drought in the area and the leaves are already turning color and falling. Got the tiniest tease of rain on Thursday, supposed to be rain Saturday and Sunday. It won’t be enough to get to where we need to be but we need something. I haven’t mowed since the end of June.

Temps are supposed to drop on Monday. IMG_2607.jpeg

Had to take a sick pup outside around 2:30 am. Boy oh boy was it nice and cool. Actually chilly. Not sure what the temp was but it was clear and crisp. Maybe temps were in high 40s?
