Got the next two cord rack set and stacked yesterdays score. It will fill up quick. IMG_5987.JPG IMG_5988.JPG
Got an order from my FBM cherry smoker ad. Guy wanted 50/50 mix of cherry and sugar maple though. I can accommodate. Tentative Saturday morning delivery. Couple other tires kickers this week.

Sounds like a good order! I think half the battle is just getting the word out that you have wood available. I get lots of questions on MP about things other than what I posted. That just generates extra sales every time I can fulfill what the customer is asking for.

I wouldn't mind having a few regulars for smoking wood. At least I'm getting my feet wet.

Delivered late this morning. My first smoker sale. 50/50 cherry and sugar maple. Turns out the guy has a big "Texas" smoker and uses it often. Told him of my other smoker woods and we may do business in the future. The length was perfect for him at 16". He had never tried the maple and was excited about it. I gave him a few extra splits. I have cherry, sugar maple, hickory, mulberry plus apple and Bradford pear. Are there any others that are commonly used for smoking?

Funny as you never see any meats sold as oakwood smoked. At least I haven't that I'm aware of.

Have you tried any of that mulberry Mike?

I haven't had much opportunity to fire up the smoker. I do plan to very soon.

Most brisket in Texas is smoked with white/post oak.
Also pecan is a good smoker wood.
Chili's Restaurants use pecan to smoke their ribs.

I think you'll grow to like those customers. They'll pay a premium for what they want.

I second this. Oak is a good seller for me. I also offer honey locust in bags

I got the last of the silver maple split yesterday and made a run to my supplier for more basswood. He really likes to load my truck up! I'll resplit most of it for bundle wood.[IMG][IMG]

He was pleased and I think I'll hear from him in the future. Ill keep the FBM ads up and running of course. Maybe devise a better way to keep smoker woods in separate stacks.

I figured the quantity would make you proud. The location is about 10 miles away. Very rural except about 1000' of country 2 lane highway. I don't think I exceeded 40 mph on the way home.

To be honest i'd be a nervous wreck with wood stacked like that and having to go ten miles!
Hats off to you getting it done though! :tip:

Got a guy answer my bundle ad on FBM looking for wood for his sauna. Needs oak or birch. I offered loose oak that's in the rotation. He has to check the size requirement and I'm waiting to hear back. A sale is a sale!

I'd imagine many people don't buy a truckload at a time (individuals, not businesses). If you kept some species separated in1/2 cord-1 cord racks, you could probably fill several orders.

It was a piece of cake. I am learning to like hauling 1/2 cord at a time. The whole thing was $30. Didn't lose a single piece.

Nice! Maybe you can get him hooked on BL while you're at it.

Putting a small rack aside for the Bradford pear. Ill probably keep some of the other species in there too so I don't disturb solid half cord stacks of such.
