Had to update my signature with the stash for this coming season. Last year I started with about 4 tons. It made me nervous to start with that amount even knowing I would use the mini-split as much as possible for heat.

This year I'm starting the season with nearly 6.5 tons - a number that makes me much happier. Stupid to feel that way I know, because I'll probably use the mini split a lot this coming heating season. Of course if we have a hard winter, I'll burn more than the 2.6 tons I burned last year, so it is good to be prepared.

Just proves your a bit of an oinker like the rest of us :D

Agree, Nice to have a stash and not just barely enough. I'm likely to do the the same. Put 4 to 5 tons in the kitty and fill the oil tank. Should be more than the winters worth, May stash a bit more if $$ allows!

You'll likely need more. Your shack has a target on the roof and there being a sign out front that says here lives JT please dump the snow here. You got your dump truck loaded yet b?

I only bought two tons of pellets, (20 lb bags) Our min split does a really good job keeping us warm, but sometimes we just want the heat of the pellet stove. Our chairs are nearby so we get to enjoy the fire and the comfort of the radiant heat.

Know what you mean. Even though the past few years we have been using about 3 -1/2 to 4 tons a year, I feel more comfortable when we have 5-6 tons on hand.

I'm leaning more towards oil monster again this year. Mini splits are also ready to go at any point.

I have about 1.2 ton on hand will likely leave it at that.

Been away from here for a while. This is why I am skeptical on handling pellets this year.

Fighting an aggressive Lymphoma cancer that took me down fast this past spring. Chemo every three weeks but appears to be working. Had tumors on multiple organs, spent three weeks in hospital. I was literally circling the drain when admitted.

One trip to Mass General for second opinion about tumor on my spine but improvement there (and elsewhere) they say specialized treatment in Boston not necessary due to improvement with current R-CHOP treatments. The did change to P-CHOP which changed one drug to a more agressive one that is used for repeat cancer. This was done as I have such a complicated case.

    Good times !!

I am so sorry for you having to experience those serious health problems. Use the dino and the heat pump as needed. Maybe someone will be kind and fill your pellet stove for you. Try not to get discouraged. I know what it means to circle the drain.

I can't like any part of that, my aunt beat that once only to have it come back. She went through it twice. Be strong, don't give in.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. PET scan a month ago showed marked improvement.

Ive had 5 chemo treatments with one more scheduled then wait 6 weeks for another PET scan.

MRI mid may May showed a very recent stroke as well. Teresa is pretty sure that happened when I was in the hospital. I was in really bad shape. One day my sister and Teresa were in the room with me. Sister asked Teresa if I was making sense, the answer was no. My honey is an RN so is right on top of everything (even if I dont want to hear it :p). Apparently I was talking to a bag on the floor of the hospital room thinking it was one of my cats :rofl:

Good days and bad days, never know which it will be. Even good days are tough but my attitude is positive for the most part. Aside from not being able to do anything I had planned for this summer, No repair of holes in asphalt driveway, honey's truck needs rear brakes, my truck needs brakes etc etc etc.

It is what it is. Suck it up, buttercup :D
