One of my tree guy sources pulled up in front of my house this morning, he apologized for not calling first but he said his address book got corrupted when he switched phones. The reason he stopped by was because he wanted to get rid of a load of white oak.

He said his only other option was to take it to the dump and pay to get rid of it.

Cut to length. Not random, I think the boss man told them to be uniform. What’s to say no to?

I would’ve told him to never apologize for white oak, advance notice or not :) Sweet!

I think the guy missed his original dump site in Colorado. Please have him load it up again and head further west.

Free white oak, delivered, and cut to length? Did you ask him if next time he'd mind splitting it before dropping it off?

Got it all split this afternoon. More than 8’ long and more than 4’ high, trapezoid shaped row, about 1/3 cord.

It was the nastiest stringiest oak that I have ever dealt with. Splitting on the growth ring it popped like oak. Splitting across was like sycamore at times. I’ve had knotty yard oak that sucked to split but this tree had relatively few knots, it just made up for it in its stringiness

Two winters from now, look back at this picture and appreciate the wood that warmed you twice

once splitting it and once burning it

white oak is one of my favorites
