This year's peaches are just awesome! I've eaten so many it's unbelievable! I should look into getting a box.
This years nectarines were excellent as well. All of our peaches have been processed or eaten. We'll be enjoying these all winter. The fruit fresh is key apparently.
Frozen peaches (w/the Fruit Fresh) last a year no problem. We’ve had em last till next season with zero issues and no affect on flavor. Only undesirable issue is moisture in the container.
When selecting peaches here in the NE, is there a species or a way of telling if the peach flesh does not cling to the internal pit?
There's no way here that I have found, other than asking the person at the fruitstand are they cling or freestone. Usually they know, or they'll cut one and we'll both find out. Don't know of a way to tell in a store....
Usually the early season peaches are cling and later varieties are freestone. I agree on asking the produce manager if you’re in a grocery. The fruit stand sellers should have all of the information you need. Happy eating
Those are good too. SC has gotten the peach state title now... Lot of orchards pushed up the peach trees and planted pecans...
