I heard the unmistakable music of a chainsaw down the street this morning, followed the noise, and found a city crew taking down a silver maple. Not exactly a grail wood, but it was laying on pavement two doors down and free for the taking. I grabbed the 562 and got to work. Maple isn't my favorite to split, but this wasn't too bad. Filled out a row and was glad to duck out of the heat. Thermometer read north of 80 by the time I was back inside.
Love the sound of a chain saw nearby...potential for a wood score. Idve been all over that. A lot easier than that BL score. Fresh cut silver maple splits pretty easily by hand.
