So here's my new WPA. Still a work in progress, but it is up and running. and on the way back to the house, this guy appears.
Looks good. Nice pile. What kind of wood? Your new friend will keep the critters away.. How far is your house from the WPA
About 1/3 cord is Siberian Elm, the rest is Ash. The friend is a welcome addition, there are tons of rabbits, chipmunks, and toads, eat well my friend, eat well. The WPA is right inside the treeline and it is about 200' behind the house.

It's good to be back. I had shoulder surgery (AC decompression) where he basically they cut off 1 cm of my collar bone where it meets the shoulder blade, those 2 were banging into each other and looked like a well abused chisel! I had a super busy summer, and spent a lot of time playing with the new (to me) Jeep. Now the weather has broke, and it's time to play in the woods. It's kind of weird, I hadn't thought much about it until the first cool day, then I was just pulled back in, like an animals instinct to start winter preperations. I must admit, I spend as much time just hanging out in the WPA as I do cutting and splitting. Being my second year as a wood burner, it's a comforting feeling to be working on 15 & 16 wood. I should have my 3 yr stash completed this year, I currently have approx 5 cord c/s/s from last season. Not much new in the WPA equipment other than a set of 32" logging tongs, and a timberjack, but I'm always trying to fine tune the process to make life easier on the body, and that has included hiring my 16 y/o, newly driving cousin to assist. I'm trying to convince him to convince the football coach that the entire team needs to condition at my WPA! My future plans: I'm planning to get a new stove soon. Kind of waiting to see if HD or Menards puts them on sale, or can find one on CL, my 1.7 cu ft firebox just isn't cutting it on overnights and 8+ hr workdays. I also plan on building a wood shed in the WPA, not sure if I'll get to that this season or not, it kind of depends on if the firewood supply chain, and side work slows. I would still like to get my hands on some oak or locust, as I have never experienced the really dense woods, like probably everyone else, ash is everywhere. The neighbor is having a large locust cut down soon so in a couple years I'll get to enjoy that! Talk with you guys soon.
Yeah, welcome back. Sounds like you've made a full recovery. HD usually (if they do it at all) puts the 30NC on sale in late February-early March or so. Not sure about Menards.
That looks like a great place for a work area and it appears the bird likes it too. That idea about the whole team coming for a workout sounds great but you probably won't get many takers.
I picked up a 98 TJ 4.0 5sp. I would post some pics but I keep getting errors?! Yea, and I'm only getting the cousin 'cause I'm paying him and he wants gas money. Hopefully he'll learn a few things along the way. Recovery went very well. I should have done that sooner, but I was leary about getting cut on. Prior to that, the only anestisia I had was as a teen when my wisdom teeth were pulled. There are 2 Menards near by that have the Drolet in stock, not sure about sales though, not expecting much this time of year. I posted my current stove on CL, so when it goes, I'll go pick up the new one, unless it starts getting cold first! On a side note, I stumbled into a motherload of firewood yesterday, but I was is too much shock to take any pics. I'm going back today, and this time I'll take pics.
