My wife was cleaning our coffee pot when it made a wierd noise an dthe GFCI outlet it was in shut off. The light on the GFCI was lit up but no breaker was thrown atthe fuse panel and the GFCI will not provide power. The GFCI is also wired to the next receptacle down on the kitchen counter which is also dead. I tried replacing with new GFCI but that also doesn't provide power but the little light comes on.

    Suggestions?

There line/load wires were mixed up. I wired them exactly the same as the old, bad GFCI but they were different brands and had the line/load terminals on different sides. The GFCI is working however I have another issue now. There was another outlet fed from the GFCI with 4 wires plus ground that I am trying to repalce with a new USB charging outlet that only has two wires plus ground. is it safe to replace with that outlet and how would I do it or do I need a 4 wire outlet?

There are no outlets with 4 feeder wires the two incoming and the 2 outgoing feed another receptacle. Check that the USB receptacle doesn’t have the option to install the wires from the rear ie 4 holes. Otherwise you need to cut some pigtails and wire nut the three together and attach pigtails to your USB receptacle.

Is the second outlet protected by the 1st GFCI, or just fed from same line? That changes the wiring
