Silvey finally gave up the last ghost. Hand filing all them rakers is akin to stabbing myself in the ear with the file tail. Does anyone have, been around or know someone that has one of the DGG-6 grinders? Spendy booger and will have to save up, trying to figure out if it’s worth it, which I know is subjective. To many projects already cooking to try building one, I saw one video about. Anyone? Owl
Super jolly with a CBN raker wheel is probably your cheapest option. I currently have one and all 3 CBN wheels, 1/8, 3/16, and raker. I would like to have 2 more super jolly’s to not have to swap wheels around. Honestly it’s why my Silvey is for sale, they are that easy and fast to use.
It’s just finally plumb wore out enough. It’s been worked over by Madsens and myself a couple time since I’ve had it and it was abused when I picked it up back in the 90’s. I didn’t think of adapting a round grinder. Very good idea, thank you. Owl
The CBN raker wheel is from Baltic Abrasive, you can get them on the Zon. They do come from overseas so they take a week or so. I absolutely love not having to dress any of the wheels. They can also replate them if they get worn, as well as make custom wheels.
CBN is definitely the way to go, once you try one you will never go back. The picture I posted was before my raker wheel arrived. The wheel on the red grinder is the best I have ever used. Steel disc, not aluminum and the cooling slots really help.
