Picked up a load of wood from our friends in their dump truck. I got it from one of my logger buddies. Laid it out with the loader , cut it to 16ft and then loaded with the loader.

Then haul it home and dump it. I put logs under it as well when I dumped it.

Will get a load for myself in the future this way as well !!
Figure its only about 2 cords maybe a bit more? IMG_20140921_134855_819.jpg IMG_20140921_134907_392.jpg IMG_20140921_143639_980.jpg

Sweetness, dumping them on other logs will save you some chain sharpening.

    You anywhere near upstate SC?

If I had a loader at my house they would run by there with the log trucks and let me unload!!

nice load. i'm not too far from the upstate, i'm a little ways outside gastonia. just curious, how much do you end up burning in a winter? most of these guys on here live in cold places and talk about burning 3, 4, or 5 cords a winter... i go through a little over 1, lol.

Know your are well enough, i have property in Lancaster SC also.

My weather is about just like yours maybe a tad warmer like a few degrees...we seem warmer than my family in lancaster always and y'all get more snow as well?

I burn a bit over 2 cords. But I heat almost entirely with wood and am heating about 1700-2500 depending upon what doors I open/close based on temp. I also have a mostly in insulated home. Last winter I started a fire about November 9 and basically had one burning till sometimes in april I think, other than a few weekends we were gone.

Some of the guys in michigan with insulated homes and modern stoves are burning about 2-3 cords as well.

Also some of these guys are not burning near the quality wood we are down here. Much more soft wood.

    DOT?? I had a flag :)

I have had some heavier this one drove like normal just took longer to start n stop. I hauled some a few yars ago that made the front light and if u went to fast tje truck swayed:eek:. Also they were so heavy it wouldnt dump!! I had to get in and cut about 80-100 lb rounds off the front and stack them way out on the back to get it rhe leverage it needed

I thought about not. Had maybe 6 feet hanging off the back... figured I would.

I bet a dirty shop rag though barely qualifies as a flag it it even does.

i got one decent snow last winter (4 or 5 inches) that lasted a few days, and a couple of dustings. i only heat about 1000-1200 sq ft of my house, and keep the rest closed off. i normally burn from sometime in october till march, we supplement a little with electric heaters, as my wife likes having a heat source right on top of her, lol. yeah, i feel bad for the guys that get stuck with just aspen or poplar. it's hard to drive around for a week without seeing some big oak or other hardwood laying down in someone's yard. i have way too much tulip on my property, but works out really well for shoulder wood. i have a big'en that's getting a mean lean on it, best guess is about 100' x 30" but i'll let it come down on it's own.

Nice looking pile. On stringers and all. That will be fun to cut up. Good work.
