I'm fairly new to FHC, but I joined my first chainsaw forum around 2017 and I had one saw, bought new in 1986. Now I have at least 12.

Couple for sale on FBM around here. Once you use one it'll be hard to use the others. Ever try one?

Both of them sold their saws not too long after buying them. One went through a couple used various units then I talked him into a 562. He's thanked me a couple times over the years for recommending it. The other sold his and left the chainsaw game for a bit. He now has a Mkii 550, which has completely spoiled him.

Its funny how some guys stick with a brand even after owning one of their..."sub par" models first and others jump ship immediately, never to return. Humans are interesting creatures.

Ford vs Chevy is more than just Ford vs Chevy.

Husqvarna had gained tons of popularity in the early 2000s here. I think their box store sales had a lot to do with it. The 'hump' I had trouble getting over once I knew about good Stihl saws is the price. I don't believe I've ever paid full retail for a saw yet. I don't see near as many deals on Stihl as I have with other brands (pro saws anyways). I don't bash any reputable maker of them, but like anyone I have my preferences. I guess an underlying reason why I have not ever owned a Stihl saw would probably be that it seems very hard to keep them looking nice. I have ten year old stuff that people will mistake for 'brand new'. They get used, but they also clean up nice. Now that I can better rotate usage depending on circumstance, I can keep them all 'nice' for longer I hope. Speaking of human nature...it seems to me that when a piece of equipment begins to look run down, they tend to get treated as run down.

I've been running and repairing saws since around 1985 i still have some 2 series from back then
For my brother's timber company we ran 266/181 jonsereds 920/930s mainly and later the different generations 268/272/281/288/394/395 they were just tools so they were sold off to buy new saws often
    I'd love to find a nice 181se
    I have accumulated 25-40 2 series 266/268/272/288s mostly and several 371/372 2165/2171/2172s
A ported 266 is still my favorite all around saw
Strong enough for all day falling and lightweight
We didn't have ported saws until 2010 or so
A well ported 70cc saw would've dominated the market in the decades before they were introduced here
We packed especially my brother i found easier jobs
    288/394/395s with 28" bar's all day long
    Lot's of arthritis now.
