Hey guys just wanted to show my purchase from last night. So after doing a bunch of research on what chainsaw I should start with and overwhelming myself with information I had decided a 50cc saw should be able to fill all my firewood getting needs. I was debating either between one of the echos either the 509 or 4910 or a husky 450. I ended up getting the 4910 cause I had figured it was a good starting point based of what I’ve read also it was a bit cheaper lol. Did I make the right choice? Is there any tips or tricks I should know about this saw? I know very little about chainsaws other than how to cut with em so any and all information is very much appreciated. I’m just very curious about if I made a good purchase for a first saw. Thank ya guys
Welcome to the club Gunnar! I think you made the perfect choice. I’m a Husky guy and I’ve owned a 450. It wasn’t a great example of the brand. I didn’t keep it long before I sold it to step up to an XP model ( ). That Echo should give you many many years of use. Looks awesome too.
Good luck with the new saw! Did you acquire any personal protective equipment? Minimally, ear protection and chaps.
Well, he is all done guys. CAD strikes again. He might not feel the venom in his body yet but wait for it. LOL Welcome aboard gunner ; you are in good hands. Like Mike mentioned ; don't forget about the safety end of things. Enjoy!
I've had a pair of full wrap chaps. They are hot this time of year, but I minimize my wooding efforts in the heat. Chaps & Pants | Labonville Inc.
I looked at those XPs and bunch of other saws they were just a little to rich for me to justify for my first saw lol. Maybe one em will be my next one♂️
I guess it’s what happens after you get your first saw. Then comes number two so you’re able to have a two saw plan and once that happens it’s all over.
The 4910 is no slouch, I also just bought one and I think that it's on par with the Stihl 261 or pro Husky.
Congrats on your new saw. Keep your chain out of the dirt. Read about kickback and what causes it. Read about proper chainsaw grip and safe operating form. Read about chainsaw chain and how it cuts. Learn how to sharpen your chain. The best cutting saws have sharp chains. Keep your chain out of the dirt. Safe cutting!
Update: Well the saw I got would not start at all so currently at the store doing an exchange hopefully this one will work
You did good on the saw and it will treat you well. The pro saws are nice and very addictive but most don't need them for firewood duty (myself included).
Well I got the saw exchanged the decompression button was broken. Funny enough I got the very last 4910 in the store so got extremely lucky. When I got home I managed to fire it up and cut up a big sycamore limb that feel in the yard.
Congrats on your first saw. Echo is a good brand. Never have run one but have heard nothing but good things about them. Too bad about getting a lemon and glad the dealer covered it. Be sure to post pics. Cut safe and hoard on!
Yea I was definitely stressed about if they were going to cover it or not But yes I will be posting pics soon as I find some wood to cut and scrounge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice choice with the echo 4910. Broken decompression button on the returned one. Hmm sounds like a good candidate to buy that saw at a serious discount.... I don't even use those decompression buttons.
